A story-telling kazari’dana 飾り棚 (display cabinet) with a black lacquered finish. The cabinet is built with a light, open frame and a combination of sliding doors and hinged door. Nicely contrasting with the deep black of the wood finish, is the contrasting white of a washi-paper lattice on the left side. The panels are decorated with a theme of pagodas receding in the clouded distance, while above them, prominently displayed, a silver-inlaid full moon rising over the mountains. Signed in red lacquer in the lower left corner. Period: Japan – Shôwa period, approx. 1950-1960 Dimensions: Height 96.5 cm, Width 78.5 cm, Depth 26 cm. The cabinet is in very good original condition. A minor dent along the upper right rim, and some other minor traces of wear. Please see the photos for a condition reference. When shipped, we will add a certificate of authenticity.
