Thilo Maatsch (1900-1983) - Untitled Ink on Paper
Very rare ink on paper by German artist Thilo Maatsch (1900-1983); hand-signed and dated “25” by the artist; unique art work.
Maatsch was an advocate of abstract art, constructivism and concrete art. Early in his career he collaborated with artists such as Paul Klee, László Moholy-Nagy, William Wauer and Wassily Kandinsky at the Bauhaus.
In the 1930s, the Nazi regime determined that his art work was considered “Entartete Kunst (Degenerate Art)” and was banned, much of it destroyed, and his artistic career halted until after the War.
Condition: Very Good; carefully stored over the years; very light foxing in verso; it has never been framed.
Dimensions: 23.8 x 32.0 cm
