A nice ammonite I picked up from a collection I bought (estate sale). The collector dug and prepared the specimen himself. Name : Emericiceras emerici Age: Cretaceous, Barremian Findspot: Méjannes, Gard, France Diameter of the heteromorph ammonite : 16 cm Weight : 3.7 kg The digging conditions of those ammonites are very difficult , and they are always dug broken. That one popped off the matrix and has been reglued, but NO restoration has been done to the fossil along the breaks. It is anyway a very stunning specimen, and it is guaranteed completely original.
