A great Omi mizuya’dansu 水屋箪笥 (kitchen cabinet) in two sections, featuring a well-preserved warm patina. The upper section is fitted with a pair of sliding doors showcasing vertical rounded slat latticework, and four smoothly running drawers. The drawer fronts and lower panels of the sliding doors are made of keyaki (zelkova) hardwood, contrasting beautifully with the hinoki (cypress) wood frame. Behind the sliding doors, a single shelf provides additional storage. The drawers are equipped with sturdy iron ‘warabite’-shaped bail handles. Designed for both function and aesthetics, this cabinet offers deep storage while maintaining a refined traditional look. This type of cabinet originates from Omi province, Shiga prefecture in Japan. Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912). Dimensions: Height 172 cm, Width 122 cm, Depth 50.5 cm. In a very good restored condition with some traces of age and wear. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference. When shipped, a certificate of authenticity will be included.
