Pair of Antique Bedside Tables in Louis XV Style – 20th Century

Important pair of antique bedside tables crafted in Louis XV style, characterized by elegant serpentine and bombe forms, typical of the 18th-century French tradition, here reproduced in 20th-century manufacture. The pieces feature a harmonious structure with a curved front and shaped sides, resting on finely carved cabriole legs with vegetal motifs. The lower apron follows a sinuous profile, enhancing the refined movement of the overall design. The shaped top is fitted with a raised back (gallery), both decorative and functional, originally intended for bedroom use. Each cabinet is equipped with a single front door opening to reveal an internal storage compartment suitable for personal items. The surfaces are veneered in richly grained wood (likely walnut or similar), giving depth and warmth to the appearance. The shaped brass handles are consistent with the stylistic language of the period.

Period: 20th century. Style: Louis XV. Materials: solid wood and fine wood veneer (walnut effect), brass hardware. Dimensions (each): height 80 cm, width 60 cm, depth 40 cm.

Condition: the bedside tables are to be considered very old and show condition consistent with age and prolonged use. They present widespread surface wear with scratches, marks and abrasions on the top, stains and variations in the finish, wear along edges and corners, and natural patina on both wood and metal elements. A general conservative restoration is recommended in order to enhance the pieces. It should also be noted that one hinge requires adjustment/repair, as clearly visible in the photographs, and the hardware appears original with age-related oxidation. The structure remains solid and stable.

Originally intended for refined bedroom interiors, these bedside tables are suitable today for various settings, including bedside use in classic or period-style bedrooms, side cabinets in elegant living spaces, or decorative elements in vintage or shabby chic interiors. Thanks to their presence and refined lines, they represent charming decorative pieces capable of enriching any environment.
