Wood, Challinor & Co. (England), 1860. - 浅杯 (2) - 陶器 - 伊特鲁里亚人图案
A rare and attractive opportunity to acquire a matched set of two antique Victorian pedestal bowls (tazzas) featuring the collectible "Etruscan Figures" pattern. This set includes one larger and one slightly smaller tazza. Both pieces are beautiful examples of Victorian neo-classical taste, with polychrome decoration in purple, rose, terra cotta and gilt.
- Maker: W.C. & Co. (Wood, Challinor & Co., Tunstall, Staffordshire, England), active circa 1860–1890.
- Period: Mid-Victorian, circa 1860
- Design: The central medallion depicts a classical figure, possibly Orpheus or Apollo, playing a lyre beside a deer — a popular mythological scene of the period. Framed by a twisted terra cotta rope border and a floral frieze in rose and purple.
The glaze shows characteristic age-related crazing consistent with pieces of this period, adding to their authentic antique character.
Condition:
Small Tazza: Excellent antique condition for its age, with minor age-related spotting and natural crazing consistent with over 160 years of existence.
Large Tazza: One chip to the foot and two hairlines (please see close-up photos).
Both pieces present very well together.
Dimensions:
- Large Tazza: 26 cm width, 8 cm height
- Small Tazza: 23 cm width, 7 cm height
A collector's pair that adds historical elegance to any interior. Ideal as a centrepiece display or mantel garniture.
