花瓶 - 陶瓷 - 日本 - Kengo创作的备前雕塑 - 正宗憲悟 Masamune Kengo(1954-2006)

正宗憲悟 Masamune Kengo(1954-2006) This elegant square-form vessel (kaku-tsubo) is a fine example of authentic Bizen-yaki stoneware, handcrafted by the accomplished ceramicist Masamune Kengo. The vessel displays a striking angular silhouette — a sculptural departure from the more common round forms — demonstrating the artist's confident command of form and clay. The unglazed surface showcases the hallmarks of Bizen ware: rich, warm earth tones with subtle natural variations in color and texture born entirely from the wood-fire kiln. Traces of natural ash deposit and the characteristic reddish-brown hidasuki effect lend the surface a quiet, contemplative beauty deeply rooted in the wabi-sabi aesthetic. The piece comes with its original wooden storage box (tomobako) bearing the artist's signature, enhancing its provenance and collectible value. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a sculptural Bizen ware piece by an artist who has exhibited his work in numerous exhibitions. *The artwork comes with a wooden storage box (original box) signed by the artist. The lid was damaged during shipping, so it will be temporarily repaired with adhesive before shipping. Size Height: 24cm, Width: 20.3cm Condition: The ceramic piece itself is in good condition. The original wooden storage box had a damaged lid during shipping. The storage box is as shown in the photos. Notes: Colors may vary slightly due to lighting. Please review all photos as they form part of the description. Artist Profile Masamune Kengo (1954–2006) was a Bizen ware ceramicist born in Imbe, Okayama Prefecture — the historic heartland of Bizen pottery. After graduating from Bizen High School and the Bizen Ceramics Center, he trained for three years at Shunkoen before establishing his independent kiln in Sagarimatsu in 1977. Over his career, his works were selected for prestigious exhibitions including the Okayama Prefectural Exhibition (Okayama-ken Ten), the Issuikai Exhibition, the Japan Ceramics Exhibition (Nihon Togei Ten), and the Chunichi International Ceramic Exhibition (Chunichi Kokusai Togei Ten). He is particularly recognized for his bold, sculptural forms that push beyond conventional vessel shapes while remaining deeply faithful to the spirit of Bizen tradition.
