Stunning Ulos Ragi Hotang Batak Tribe, North-Sumatra plus an additional old ikat Indonesia - circa 1950 The Ulos is an important part of Batak society and is used on ceremonial occasions, such as weddings, where it binds the bride and groom together. The other ikat is finished with double stitching on one side, making it suitable for hanging. Both ikats have acquired a beautiful light purple hue over time. Condition: in good condition for their age; the Ulos shows very light, non-significant signs of use. Bought from a large Dutch-Indonesian estate.
