Exceptional Art Nouveau Limoges Porcelain Twin Serving Dish – Indian Style Decoration – Rich Hand-Painted – Gilt Bronze Mount – Museum Quality – c.1900
⸻
Description:
A truly exceptional and rare Art Nouveau twin serving dish, crafted in fine Limoges porcelain and mounted in an elegant, flowing gilt bronze frame of sculptural quality.
The interior presents a richly hand-painted ornamental composition in a distinctive Indian-inspired style, centered by a bold red medallion with stylized vegetal motifs. This is surrounded by finely detailed floral elements in cobalt blue, green and white, set against a vibrant yellow ground with a subtle crackle-effect pattern. The color harmony and intricate execution are highly characteristic of top-tier Limoges decoration from the turn of the 20th century, often influenced by Oriental and Indian decorative arts.
The dynamic, asymmetric gilt mount reflects the pure Art Nouveau aesthetic, enhancing both the visual impact and functionality of the piece. The sculptural form elegantly connects the two dishes, creating a striking display object.
The underside bears the green “Porcelaine de Limoges” mark along with a decorator’s monogram, confirming French production circa 1900–1910.
Well-balanced proportions, typical for high-quality Limoges serving pieces of the Art Nouveau period.
