带有松林与鹬的折叠屏风 - 漆木,桑皮纸, 真丝, 金箔 - 日本 - Meiji period (1868-1912)
An interesting medium-sized six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) depicting a tranquil pine forest along meandering rivers.
A serene composition unfolds across the panels, showing clusters of large, slanting pine trees 松 (matsu) lining gently undulating shorelines. Fishing boats are moored along the banks, while a flight of chidori 千鳥 (plovers) sweeps gracefully across the sky. The scene is enveloped by dense gold leaf clouds, creating a calm and atmospheric landscape.
Executed in colour and ink on mulberry paper with gold leaf. The painting is bordered by a slender ecru inner band and a broader grey-blue outer band. Set within a black lacquered wooden frame fitted with protective gilded metal hardware.
Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912)
Dimensions: Total width 275.8 cm (2 × 47.3 cm, 4 × 45.3 cm); Height 137 cm
In very good restored condition, with minimal wear consistent with age on both sides, including an old tear to the first panel and some repapering to the reverse. Please refer to the photographs for a clear condition reference.
The protective frame was professionally refurbished at a later date in Japan, a process requiring highly specialised craftsmanship.
The folding screen is well suited for mounting flat on a wall and presenting as a single work of art, but can also be placed as a standalone piece.
When shipped, we will include a certificate of authenticity.
