This is an original WW2 Cole Pattern Sun Compas Mk.II used by the L.R.D.G (Long Range Desert Group) and S.A.S. for navigation in the desert. Magnetic compasses were of little use as the desert profile kept changing, but the sun was a constant. In full working condition, when the sun shines, and as removed from the vehicle being in unrestored condition. Only mounted on plinth using original mounting brackets. A very rare piece of WW2 Desert Warfare history.
