The damage must be reported to your local post office within 7 days of delivery, and promptly to us and Catawiki support. 【Product details】 This is a genuine Edo period Japanese iron tsuba (sword guard), weighing 120 g, and featuring a simple yet robust circular form that reflects practical samurai mount aesthetics of the time. The guard is forged from iron and fitted with a brass fukurin (rim covering), which serves both a protective and decorative function. The outer edge is further embellished with regularly spaced applied brass stud elements, evoking the appearance of armour rivets and lending the piece a subtle katchūshi-style character associated with functional warrior fittings. The plate has developed a natural age patina over time, and the nakago-ana retains its original copper sekigane inserts. These inserts are now visibly compressed and worn, indicating prolonged mounting and use on a sword during its service life. A single hitsu-ana is present for the attachment of a kozuka utility implement. This tsuba exemplifies the understated strength and utilitarian design sensibilities found in working mounts from the Edo period. Wear, discolouration, some rust present.
