手镜 柄镜(e’kakami)放在漆架上 - 木, 合金 - 日本 - Taishō period (1912-1926)
A Shinto mirror 神鏡 (shinkyô) mounted in a wooden stand.
The circular mirror has a finely polished reflective surface, while the reverse is cast with a textured ground with carved inscriptions. It is set within an elaborate wooden stand, the upright carved with swirling cloud motifs transitioning into stylised waves along the base. The stand rests on a low rectangular platform, with the mirror securely mounted. The reverse of the stand bears corresponding ink inscriptions.
Both mirror and stand are inscribed with a dedication stating that the mirror was offered to Kôdô-gû Shrine 光堂宮 by the Nishiyama family of Kyoto, originating from Kawamichi in Asai District, Ômi Province (江州浅井郡川道).
Within Shinto tradition, the shinkyô is a sacred object in which a kami may reside, and forms part of the broader concept of the Three Sacred Treasures (sanshu no jingi).
