猞猁属各种 - 头骨化石 - 16 cm
Origin: China
Geological Period: Late Pleistocene (c. 126,000–11,700 years ago)
Description:
This specimen is the skull of a medium-sized feline—a lynx sp. The skull is largely intact, with both upper and lower jaw teeth well-preserved. The canines are long, robust, and protrude forward; the premolars and molars have well-developed shear surfaces, consistent with the feeding characteristics of a carnivorous animal. The cranial vault is relatively low, the temporal fossa is prominent, and the postorbital and zygomatic bone structures are clearly defined. The anterior part of the nasal bone is slightly raised, and the suture between the nasal bone and the maxilla is clearly visible. The zygomatic arch is robust, indicating a powerful bite.
Preservation: Good
