盘子 - 瓷 - Meiji Arita Rare
A Japanese porcelain plate from the first half of the 19th century, decorated in underglaze cobalt with a classic “Tatar” motif. The plate features three panels with characteristic figures in “Mongolian” attire - tall hats and their garments suggest a stylised representation of Central Asian origins, a theme that was popular in Japanese ceramics of the late Edo period (1603–1868).
The design is complemented by dense floral ornamentation and a central medallion with a floral motif. The plate was most likely produced in the Arita region, known for its high-quality porcelain, either for the domestic market or for export. This style reflects Japanese interest in the outside world, as well as the popularity of reinterpreting Chinese motifs in Japanese art. The plate has a minor flaw—a small chip measuring approximately 3 mm.
Diameter: 21 cm
