卖家的描述
Str beautifully crafted 8-piece crystal wine service with dimensions h 12.50 x 7.80 diameter mouth
1 carafe h 18.40 cm
History and Description of the Crystal Service "Saar" (Villeroy & Boch) signed underneath
This splendid and exceptionally complete tableware set is a true piece of the history of European glassmaking in the second half of the 20th century (roughly produced between the 1960s and 1980s).
The History and the Brand
The pieces bear an acid-etched inscription on the bottom: "SAAR CRISTAL". This origin mark is tied to the prestigious crystal production of the Saar valley (in Germany), managed by the historic brand Villeroy & Boch (in their famous Wadgassen crystal factory).
The term "Cristal" was not just a commercial name, but certified the chemical composition of the piece: genuine crystal containing lead-free composition (very heavy), characterized by extraordinary brilliance and a prolonged metallic resonance (the classic "song" of crystal).
Design Features
The goblets and serving pieces of this specific lot are characterized by a classic and elegant design, playing on the contrast between smooth surfaces and worked surfaces:
The petal motif: The lower part of the cup (and the bases of decanters and carafes) is decorated with wide vertical grooved flutes (called ribs) that end in an arch. This design creates the optical effect of a flower opening (like a tulip) and captures light to create unique reflections.
Transparency: The upper part of the goblets is deliberately left smooth and perfectly transparent to avoid altering the visual perception and color of the wine or beverages poured.
The stem and foot: The goblets feature a short, sturdy stem with a faceted geometrical junction and a broad circular foot that ensures great stability.
In excellent condition
