Artist Profile: Tozan (陶山)
The name "Tozan" (陶山) is deeply rooted in the history of Kyoto ceramics. While multiple masters have carried this name, the distinctive "triple-peak" (ΛΛΛ) seal on this piece's original cloth is a hallmark of the Shimada Tozan lineage, associated with the renowned Waraku Kiln in Kyoto. For generations, the Tozan name has represented the pinnacle of traditional tea ceramics, focusing on the spiritual and tactile essence of the Raku-yaki tradition.

The Piece: Timeless Aka-Raku Aesthetics
This exquisite tea bowl is a prime example of Aka-Raku (Red Raku), the most classic style of Raku ware.

The Glaze: It features a warm, organic orange-red glaze with subtle "Hi-iro" (fire marks) and "Kan-nyu" (crackle patterns) that give the piece its unique "scenery" (Keshiki).

The Form: Hand-formed (Te-zukune) without a potter’s wheel, the bowl possesses a gentle, irregular shape that fits perfectly in the palms.
