It is an authentic portable tea utensil set from the Japanese Showa Period (c. 1960s–1970s). The chabako is crafted from solid wood and finished with a rich reddish-brown transparent urushi lacquer, boasting a smooth and lustrous surface. The exterior is adorned with gold and silver makie (莳绘) depicting water wheels and flowing waves — lines are delicate and fluid, with a soft, radiant sheen that is a hallmark of traditional Japanese lacquerware. The semicircular water wheels paired with undulating waves evoke the imagery of water wheels turning in a stream, symbolizing perpetual vitality and purity — classic auspicious motifs deeply rooted in tea ceremony culture. Its two-tier structure offers ample storage space for all accompanying tea utensils, while the interior is coated in black lacquer to prevent moisture damage, seamlessly blending functionality with ritual elegance. 【Included Tea Utensils (Full Temae Set)】 All pieces share the unified mizuguruma and wave motif, including: Chawan (茶碗): Ceramic tea bowl decorated with matching water wheel and wave patterns, with a smooth glaze finish. Natsume (棗): Small lacquer tea caddy with the same motif, used for storing matcha powder. Chasen (茶筅): Bamboo tea whisk, complete with a lacquerware holder. Chashaku (茶杓): Bamboo tea scoop for handling matcha powder. Kogo (香合): Small wooden lacquerware box, used to store incense pellets or wood during tea ceremonies. Shifuku (仕覆): Dark blue Nishijin brocade pouches with elegant floral patterns, for protecting the chawan, natsume, chashaku and other small utensils. Due to its age, the lacquer surface of the tea cabinet top lid shows noticeable oxidation. The entire set bears natural signs of ageing, minor wear and traces of use.Overall, it is well-preserved with no cracks or peeling, and is in good condition.
