Suigai Sato Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1920 (Taisho 9). He studied Japanese painting under Suien Komuro and received the character "Sui" from his teacher, adopting the artist name Suigai. He began creating creative kokeshi dolls in 1949 and established his workshop, "Suigetsu," in 1953.
