The lid is decorated with patterns of chrysanthemums, waves, seven treasures, and floral diamonds, while the sides feature patterns of paulownia, chrysanthemums, and pine. Each emblem has been used as a crest of the Imperial family or carries meanings such as weddings, marital harmony, and longevity, so it seems that this tea utensil was made for use on celebratory occasions.
