Bernard Bloch, born in Austria, started working at a young age for a transport company in Bohemia that delivered clay to potteries, a well-known industry in that area. He received training in making ceramics and pottery and in 1871 he bought his own earthenware factory in Unica and started his company here under the name B.Bloch & Co. In addition to household items, the factory also made Majolica decorative objects, but it became best known for its tobacco jars and figurines of figures in very refined designs.
