益子茶碗,铁刷纹样 - 陶瓷 - Gen Murata (村田元, 1904–1988) - 日本 - Shōwa period (1926-1989)

Description: A compact chawan with a gently flaring form and a slightly raised foot, finished in a soft, natural glaze. The surface shows warm beige tones with flowing white glaze and areas of iron-rich brushwork, creating a subtle landscape-like variation across the body. On one side, a circular iron-painted motif provides a strong visual contrast against the lighter ground. The glaze transitions and kiln effects reflect the character associated with Mashiko ware, emphasizing material texture and firing variation. The interior is simply finished, complementing the understated exterior. Dimensions: Height: 8.5 cm Diameter: 8.5 cm Weight: 215 grams Condition: No visible damage. Artist Profile: Gen Murata (1904–1988) was a Japanese ceramic artist associated with Mashiko ware. Born in Kanazawa, he initially trained as a painter before turning to ceramics in 1944 under Shoji Hamada. He became independent in 1948 and later established a climbing kiln in Mashiko in 1954.
