Description:
This tea scoop is crafted using Susudake (smoked bamboo), a material naturally aged and blackened by smoke in the rafters of traditional Japanese houses. The base is reinforced with Wajima's characteristic Jinoko (diatomaceous earth) for durability. One side retains the natural texture of the smoked bamboo, while the other side features a black lacquer finish decorated with a gold Makie (sprinkled gold powder) design of bamboo leaves (Sasa). As a functional tea ceremony utensil, the natural texture of the bamboo and lacquer is designed to develop a deeper character and patina through long-term use.
