Origin and Designer
Basic design: The figurines are based on the drawings and illustrations of Berta Hummel (1909–1946), a German artist who adopted the name Sister Maria Innocentia while she was a nun. Her drawings of innocent, often blushing children served as the inspiration.
Manufacturer: The porcelain factory W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik in Rödental, Germany, obtained the exclusive right in 1934 to convert these drawings into three-dimensional figures.
