The composition reflects a distinctly Japanese interpretation of Chinese-inspired landscape themes, with expressive brushwork and a quiet storytelling quality typical of late Edo period domestic wares. The reverse is decorated with flowing vine scrolls, and the foot is neatly finished with a double ring, consistent with Arita kiln production.
