Rare complete, 13 piece Satsuma Tea Set, of finely hand painted Earthenware, from the late Meiji period (1868-1912). This delicate tea set is profusely decorated with raised illustrated scenes of arhats and other mythical creatures. Great care was taken in the intricate details of the design. Satsuma ware is a type of earthenware pottery originating from the Satsuma province in southern Kyushu, Japan’s third largest island. Tea pot has a diameter 20cm, the saucers a diameter of 12 cm and the cups a height of 5 cm.
