A spectacular and large antique Mangbetu shield made in Congo in the first half of the 20th century. Made with an ingenious design of two wooden planks with expertly crafted wickerwork holding them together. It is covered with animal hide a real work of art and a superb example of traditional craftsmanship. 111 X 52 cm Overall fairly good condition considering age and complete, it has visible signs of wear, losses and cracks due to age.
