Hopf / Georgiev Bros. Classical Guitar – Handmade Tradition with Remarkable Tone and a Rare Historic Background
Some guitars immediately surprise you the moment you play the first note. This Hopf / Georgiev Bros. Classical Guitar is exactly that kind of instrument — a beautifully handmade classical guitar with a rich, expressive voice and a story deeply connected to European guitar-making tradition.
Built through the collaboration between Georgiev Bros. and the historic Hopf company, this instrument combines refined craftsmanship with excellent tonal character. The cedar top gives the guitar warmth, depth and immediate responsiveness, while the rosewood back and sides add richness, clarity and beautiful harmonic complexity. The result is a wonderfully balanced classical guitar with a mature, elegant sound that feels inspiring from the very first touch.
What truly makes this Hopf / Georgiev Bros. Classical Guitar special is its origin. The instrument comes from the remaining stock of the legendary Hopf company, which sadly closed earlier this year after around 400 years of instrument-making tradition. Guitars like this have therefore become rare surviving pieces of a historic German workshop legacy — instruments connected to one of the oldest names in European instrument building.
Although the guitar remained unplayed for many years, careful storage has preserved it very well. It now shows only some light natural signs of aging and storage, giving the instrument authenticity and charm without affecting functionality or structural integrity. There is one small professionally repaired crack on the top, while the guitar itself remains fully functional and in very good overall condition.
With a scale length of 650 mm and a nut width of 52 mm, the guitar offers the traditional dimensions classical players appreciate. The playability is comfortable and balanced, making it equally enjoyable for advanced players, students and collectors looking for a soulful handmade instrument.
The sound is simply beautiful — warm, lyrical and deeply musical. The basses are full and resonant, the trebles clear and singing, while the overall response remains dynamic and highly expressive. It is the kind of guitar that invites long playing sessions and rewards subtle phrasing and nuance.
Visually, the Hopf / Georgiev Bros. Classical Guitar reflects the understated elegance of traditional handmade classical instruments. Its mature appearance, combined with the natural aging of the woods, gives it a timeless and honest character.
More than just a classical guitar, this instrument represents the final chapter of a centuries-old workshop tradition — a rare opportunity to own a beautifully handcrafted guitar with exceptional sound and genuine historical significance.
