Description: A Shino tea bowl by Nonaka Shunsei, accompanied by its signed tomobako. The bowl has a gently flared form with a soft white glaze and warm pinkish firing tones. Painted bird motifs encircle the exterior, giving the surface a light and rhythmic character. The interior is finished with a broad wash of warm reddish tone, while the base bears an impressed mark. A tea bowl with an understated and natural Shino expression. Dimensions: Height: 7.1 cm Width: 12.5 cm Depth: 12.4 cm Artist Profile: Nonaka Shunsei was born in 1906. In 1932, he studied under Hayakawa Shuntai in Seto and learned Shino techniques. He later established a studio in Midori-ku, Yokohama, and in 1967 transferred the Yokohama workshop to his son Shunpo before building a kiln in Mino. He also held exhibitions at the Gotoh Museum and Mitsukoshi. Condition: In good vintage condition, with minor signs of age and handling.
