Naoyama Taimu (1794-1874), a haiku poet from the late Edo period to the Meiji era. Born in 1794. After working in the accounting office of the Kanazawa Domain of Kaga Province, he opened a private school. He studied haiku under Narita Ao, the 5th generation head of the Kaian school, Daijo, and Sakurai Baishitsu, known as one of the four great haikai poets of the Tempo era (1830-44). He inherited the name of the 6th generation head of the Kaian school from Daijo. He died on February 16th/17th, 1874, at the age of 81. His works include "Toyomi Nikki" and "Noto Jun".
