The design combines elegant brass details with a sculptural wooden ( teak ) base and a large fabric shade, reflecting the warm and organic aesthetics of Mid-Century Modern and Scandinavian design. Temde was a renowned German-Swiss lighting manufacturer founded in 1911, celebrated for its high-quality craftsmanship and sophisticated use of natural materials such as wood, brass, and textured fabrics. Their lighting designs became iconic during the mid-century era and remain highly collectible today. SOME GENERAL INFORMATIONS: Fritz Müller Temde (1889–1964),son of a furniture manufacturer from the Lippe region, recognized early on that the electrification of everyday life that began at the beginning of the 20th century would bring with it an increasing need for lighting fixtures for the living area,which at that time was still largely satisfied as a commercial side branch of established metal or wood processing companies.So he focused on specialization and founded a company in Detmold in 1911 for the manufacture of lighting fixtures under the company TEMDE.
