The Yoshidaya palette is distinctive for its use of four colors — green, yellow, purple, and dark blue — with the deliberate absence of red, a hallmark inherited from the "Aote" (blue-green) tradition of Ko-Kutani (Old Kutani). The entire surface of this vase is richly painted in the oil-painting-like manner characteristic of the style, leaving almost no white space.
