Vintage Japanese Decorative Art Object Wood Lacquer Maki e Leaping Carp Taiko
Overview
This is a beautiful vintage Japanese traditional decorative object originally crafted as a ceremonial Taiko. The wooden body features a striking Maki e lacquer design of a leaping carp known as Nobori goi. In Japanese culture a carp swimming up a waterfall is a powerful symbol of perseverance strength and ultimate success. The surfaces are beautifully decorated with gold pigment featuring a traditional Japanese continuous wave pattern and a central family crest motif. This exquisite detail along with its deep Wabi sabi aesthetic elevates the piece into a remarkable work of authentic Japanese interior art highly recommended for Asian art collectors.
Condition
Used. This is an authentic vintage art piece with a profound aesthetic sold as is. There are prominent age related signs of wear including scratches color fading and cracks around the wooden body which add to its historical character. The gold painted surfaces show natural wear fading and slight warping but have no tears. Please check all detailed photos carefully to appreciate its true vintage character and exact condition before bidding.
