This lovely carboniferous fossil matrix shows a beautiful Calamostachys, which is a genus of fossil cone-like reproductive structures (sporophyll spikes) of extinct giant horsetails (Calamites) The best quality and good contrast!!!! The stone was found by myself in June 2026 in the region of the district Saarland in Germany. Found in rest material that came out of the former coal mines in this region. The fossil is between 309 and 302 million years old.
