This finely carved figure has its origin in Germany, in the period between the two world wars, with the base added later, probably in the 1950's. The figure depicts the Virgin Mary with the attributes of the Immaculate Conception as described in the Book of the Apocalypse: crushing the serpent, with the earth as her footstool. The figure displays serenity and recollection. The base measures 10*10cms. Figure and base in total measure 35cm in height. The figure is in overall good condition, with a small fracture of the serpent as seen in the last photo.
