Crafted from a combination of paulownia (kiri) for the front panels and cedar (sugi) for the frame and interior drawers, the piece exemplifies the regional woodworking tradition of Tohoku. The hardware features elegant round iron fittings (maru kanagu) with warabi-te (fern-shaped) drawer pulls — a refined decorative detail typical of high-quality Japanese cabinetry of the era. The front panels are left in their natural wood finish and treated with antique wax, while the frame is finished in black lacquer, creating a beautifully restrained wabi aesthetic. All drawers have been professionally cleaned and wax-finished, and the chest is in immediately usable condition.
