Sugao Waterfall A waterfall located in Dōbaru, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It lies in the upper reaches of the Murasaki River within a national forest area. The waterfall is divided into three tiers, and the upper fall has a drop of about 30 meters, making it one of the largest waterfalls in Kitakyushu. Biography Takagi Hosui (?-1858) Born in Hita, Bungo Province. His personal name was Iwao and his art names included Hosui and Hitsuan. Painter of the late Edo period. He studied under Hirose Tanso and later learned painting from Okamoto Toyohiko in Kyoto. He excelled in landscape and figure paintings of the Shijo school and later became an official painter of the Kokura domain. He died in 1858. Age at death unknown.

Takagi Hosui (?-1858)

Born in Hita, Bungo Province. His personal name was Iwao and his art names included Hosui and Hitsuan. Painter of the late Edo period.
