Alessi Ottagonale coffee pot, designed by Carlo Alessi. Not a reissue, but an original from the 1930s. Stainless steel with Bakelite handle, capacity 100cl. Height 20cm, diameter 11 cm. In good condition, normal signs of use commensurate with age; see photos. Carlo Alessi was born in 1916 in Granerolo (Verbania), studied technical design at the OMAR Institute in Novara, and worked at a young age in the metal workshop founded in 1921 by his father, Giovanni. From the mid-thirties to the mid-forties, he designed many Alessi works, including the "Ottagonale", "Scalini", "Cilindrica", and "Bombé" series. In the fifties, he became managing director of the company, bringing a new international dimension and beginning to work with new external designers. He was president of Alessi S.p.A. until 2009, when he passed away.
