A Brass Palanquin Finial, India, 18th–19th Century Cast in brass, this finial is modelled as the head of a Makara — the mythical aquatic creature of Hindu and Buddhist iconography — with characteristically gaping jaws, scrolled crest, and foliate detailing. The head sits above a cylindrical socket engraved with repeating geometric borders. Good aged patina throughout, consistent with age and use. Height 13 cm, length 22 cm, width 9 cm.
