Chinese Ge-Glazed “Taibai” Jar, Qianlong Period (1736–1795), Qing Dynasty
A refined Chinese Ge-glazed porcelain jar, commonly known as a “Taibai Jar”, dating to the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1736–1795).
The vessel is covered in a beautiful creamy-white glaze with an exceptionally fine and naturally developed crackle network across the entire surface. The crackles have matured gracefully over centuries, creating a subtle and highly attractive pattern characteristic of quality Ge-type wares. The glaze is rich, lustrous, and silky to the touch, demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship associated with Qing imperial taste.
The elegant rounded body, short neck, and carefully finished foot reflect the balanced proportions and meticulous potting of the period. The exposed footrim is neatly trimmed, revealing the fine porcelain body beneath.
Traditionally referred to as a “Taibai Jar”, this understated yet sophisticated form was appreciated for its harmonious shape and the quiet beauty of its glaze rather than painted decoration.
