日本乐烧黑茶碗“Shichiri”—Kōetsu Style (Kōetsu-Utsushi)—Shoraku—带署名 - 陶瓷 - 日本 - 20世纪

This expressive Japanese Raku ware tea bowl, titled “Shichiri,” was created by the ceramic artist Shoraku and is accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako). The bowl is executed in the tradition of Kōetsu-Utsushi, a style inspired by the celebrated tea bowls of Hon’ami Kōetsu, one of the most influential figures in the history of Japanese tea ceramics. Rather than pursuing perfect symmetry, the work embraces the aesthetics of irregularity, spontaneity, and quiet elegance that have long been admired in the Japanese tea ceremony. Its hand-formed silhouette displays a subtle undulating rim and gently shifting walls, creating a natural rhythm when viewed from different angles. The deep black glaze flows unevenly across the surface, revealing areas of textured clay and warm earthy tones beneath. These contrasts are characteristic of Raku ware and contribute to the bowl’s strong visual presence. The interior presents a rich glossy black surface that reflects light beautifully during tea preparation, while the foot reveals the rugged character of the clay body and firing process. Together, these elements embody the spirit of wabi-sabi, celebrating the beauty of imperfection and the traces left by the maker’s hand. Tea bowls inspired by the Kōetsu tradition occupy a special place within Japanese tea culture, where individuality of form and tactile quality are valued as highly as technical precision. This example conveys that philosophy through its balanced combination of rustic texture and refined simplicity. The original tomobako bears the inscription: “光悦写 茶碗 七里” (Kōetsu Style Tea Bowl “Shichiri”) and is signed by the artist Shoraku. Condition: Very good vintage condition. No visible cracks or repairs observed. Minor signs of age and use consistent with careful preservation. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description. Dimensions: • Diameter: approximately 12 cm • Height: approximately 8 cm Measurements are approximate. The item will be carefully packed and shipped with appropriate protection to ensure safe international delivery.
