This exquisite vintage guinomi teacup is crafted by renowned Mino ware potter Sato Waji of Sowarabi Kiln, one of the classic master craftsmen specializing in Pink Shino style. The vessel is hand-shaped from coarse porous stoneware clay, fired in traditional wood-burning kiln at high temperature. Natural falling wood ash creates one-of-a-kind mottled warm brown kiln traces, speckles and tiny pinholes across the creamy white Shino glaze, which are inherent organic characteristics of wood-fired Shino pottery and embody the timeless Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetic.
