Albert Grivault – Meursault “Clos du Murger” 2023
Meursault villages — but not as you know it.
Domaine Albert Grivault has been a cornerstone of the Côte de Beaune since 1879, and the Clos du Murger is the estate’s proudest village-level statement — a walled, single-vineyard lieu-dit that consistently punches well above its appellation. The vineyard is characterised by flat grey stones, indicative of the historical practices of the winegrowers of Meursault, giving a terroir of distinct character and remarkable complexity.
Grivault’s wines are characterised by their purity and honesty — made great in the vineyard, not in the cellar. With minimal intervention, including virtually no bâtonnage, they taste subtle and finely strung: wines that need time and oxygen in the glass to reveal their true depth and quality. We recommend generous decanting in a wide carafe — and patience. It will reward you handsomely.
The 2023 vintage brings a beautifully fresh, aromatic expression to the Clos du Murger: expect vivid white peach and citrus blossom on the nose, with a palate that is precise, mineral-driven and elegant — hallmarks of both this address and this exceptional year for white Burgundy.
Today the domaine is managed by Albert’s great-grandchildren, with Michel Bardet — Albert’s grandson — still actively involved in vinification, maturation and the wines’ direction. Continuity, craft and integrity across five generations.
This wine is difficult to find and its popularity has increased considerably. That is precisely the opportunity. A genuine Grivault, from one of Burgundy’s most revered and discreet estates. Drink from 2026 and cellar comfortably through 2035.
The smart buyer’s into one of the Côte de Beaune’s greatest domaines.
