金色山茶花 — 日本黑漆硯箱 - 木, 漆 - 日本 - 1900-2000

Item Description This elegant Suzuribako (inkstone box / document box) is a fine example of Japanese lacquerware (shikki) from Wakayama Prefecture, crafted by the prestigious Nanzan Kobo workshop under the auspices of the Wakayama Prefecture Lacquerware Industry Cooperative Association. The piece belongs to the Sōsaku Tokusen (Creative Special Selection) line, representing the highest standard of artisanal production. The deep, mirror-polished black lacquer (kuro urushi) ground provides a dramatic backdrop for the exquisitely rendered tsubaki (camellia) motif executed in the classic maki-e technique. A single large golden camellia bloom, depicted in warm amber and apricot tones with a luminous white pistil, unfolds gracefully alongside two leaves rendered in contrasting gold and silvery-green metallic lacquer. The sweeping golden stem curves dynamically across the lower portion of the lid, lending the composition an asymmetric vitality rooted in the wabi aesthetic tradition. The interior of the box is finished in a uniform deep black lacquer, and the base features a matte black finish of restrained elegance. The box construction is of the flat-lidded hako form, traditionally used to store inkstones, calligraphy papers, and documents. This piece bears the original maker's label: Sōsaku Tokusen / Mokuzei Shikki / Nanzan Kobo (Creative Special Selection / Wood-based Lacquerware / Nanzan Workshop), affirming its authentic provenance. A refined and collectible example of contemporary Japanese craft. Size Height: 6 cm Width: 23.5 cm Depth: 30 cm Weight 835 g Condition The lacquer surfaces are pristine with a high-gloss finish throughout, and only minor traces of dust noted inside the box body. NOITICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
