Together with her husband Ashinazuchi no Mikoto, she appears in the famous legend of Susanoo-no-Mikoto and the defeat of the eight-headed serpent Yamata no Orochi. This traditional wooden mask was crafted by the artisan Yonehachi (米八), whose signature is inscribed on the reverse alongside the character "手名槌", identifying the deity portrayed.
