The central focal point features a large frontal-facing "Tai Shi" (Adult Lion) protective of its playful cub ("Xiao Shi"), a classic Chinese symbol for family prosperity and high status. The remaining seven lions leap and roll joyfully with stylized flaming manes and banana-leaf tails. ​The Borders: Framed with a solid dark indigo outer border and an inner decorative band filled with floating ribbons and auspicious symbols. ​The Technique: Features the esteemed Tientsin hand-carving (片工) technique. The contours of each lion are meticulously sheared by hand to create a striking 3D faux-relief/embossed visual effect.
