It displays an unusual habit with slight dissolution of the surfaces. This slight dissolution gives a superb glossy luster. Note the deep lagoon-blue color that made the Beix mine famous worldwide. Ex coll. Rollet family (Lyon). The Rollet family owned several mines in Madagascar since 1920, prospecting for new deposits, mining and exporting minerals for industrial uses (mainly phlogopite) but also gemstone roughs and collectable specimens. Founder Marc Rollet was a very early mineral dealer in France. The collection features many specimens of historical and systematic interest from Madagascar, as well as a variety of French and international classics from the last century. The specimen has been professionally fracture-filled.
