The gently shaped rectangular body is decorated with an engraved pastoral river landscape featuring cottages and a boat, while the sides display an elegant repeating geometric border. The interior retains its original finish and the hinged lid closes securely. Hallmarked with the Dutch lion standard mark, date letter for 1858, and maker's mark. Dutch silver of this period is highly regarded for its quality and craftsmanship.
