Description
Exquisite Set of Two Double-Tiered Jubako (4 Tiers Total)
This is a stunning example of Japanese lacquerware from the Mid-Showa period (mid-20th century). These tiered food boxes, known as Jubako, feature a classic and elegant "Uchi-shu" (vermilion interior) finish, creating a beautiful contrast with the deep black exterior.

The lids and sides are decorated with intricate Gold and Silver Makie (sprinkled powder) depicting auspicious symbols:

Cranes (Tsuru): Representing longevity and fidelity.

Pine Needles (Matsu): Symbolizing endurance and eternal life.

Folding Fans (Sensu): Signifying prosperity and a flourishing future.

This set includes two matching double-tiered boxes (four tiers in total), making it a rare and versatile find for hosting or as a high-end decorative display. It comes with its original wooden storage box (Tomobako), ensuring its authenticity and preservation.

Condition Report
Overall: Good Vintage Condition
This item is a well-preserved piece from the Showa period. While it shows some signs of use consistent with its age, it remains elegant and fully functional.

Makie Decoration: The gold and silver Makie illustrations of cranes, pine, and fans remain vibrant and retain their beautiful luster.

Lacquer Surface: The black and vermilion lacquer surfaces are generally smooth with a deep, reflective shine.

Wear & Tear:

There is some visible wear and minor loss of gold pigment along the edges (rims) of the tiers, as seen in the close-up photos.

Minor scuffs and light surface scratches are present, which are typical for authentic vintage lacquerware of this era.

Structural Integrity: There are no major cracks or warping. The tiers stack together neatly.

Original Box (Tomobako): The original wooden box is included. It shows some aging and patina, which adds to the item's historical character.
