"Asakura Isokichi" 九州烧 - 花瓶 - 日本 - 20世纪
This is a ceramic piece distinguished by its beautiful form and warm coloration. A soft amber glaze covers the entire surface, with natural gradations of tone toward the rim, creating a sense of depth and richness. The unique shape, with its gently rising sides on all four corners, combines both practicality and aesthetic appeal, adding an elegant accent to any space.
A delicately painted leaf motif adorns the side, evoking the breath of nature and lending the piece a refined and organic impression. The warmth of handcraftsmanship and the individuality of each piece can be felt throughout, making it suitable not only for everyday use but also as a decorative object.
It can be used as a container for small items, a sweets bowl, or an accessory tray, harmonizing beautifully with both Japanese and Western interiors. The more it is used, the more it develops character, offering a quiet yet enduring presence.
Asakura Isokichi was a master ceramic artist representing Kutani ware, a traditional craft of Ishikawa Prefecture, and was designated a Living National Treasure (Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property). He perfected the traditional overglaze enamel techniques of Kutani ware and is highly regarded for his intricate, vibrant decorations and dignified style.
While preserving classical designs, he incorporated a modern sensibility into his works, producing many pieces that helped promote the appeal of Kutani ware both in Japan and internationally. His works are highly valued as art pieces and are especially sought after by collectors.
